Dental Veneers

Dental Veneers

Veneers are a thin layer that bonds onto your tooth much like a false fingernail.  They are usually made from porcelain but can also be made from natural coloured composite resin.

Veneers can be used to improve the appearance of crooked, misshapen or chipped teeth by matching the colour of your existing teeth. They can even be used to close gaps.  Multiple veneers can be used to whiten teeth as well.

The procedure involves removing a thin layer of enamel from the front of the teeth.   Where misalignment is being corrected, this may only involve roughening the surface. The dentist takes an impression of the teeth, which is sent to a dental technician to make the veneers in the colour you have chosen.  The veneers will be bonded in one to two weeks when they are ready.

As with all dental procedures, we will assess and discuss whether veneers are appropriate for you during your initial consultation.

We can also discuss any aspects of veneers during your regular check-ups.
